About the Class

The Floyd Music Loft Youth Recording Ensemble is a group class available to up to 6 students in 8 week sessions. Meeting once a week on Tuesday afternoons (2 hours), this class provides students an opportunity to write, perform, and record music in a band setting with professional instruments and recording equipment.

Taught by Nick Falk, students will learn to operate in a professional recording studio and follow the process of producing music from start to finish.

  • Song Form – Melodic/Harmonic Structures

  • Recording Techniques – Microphone Technique/Placement

  • Logic Pro X 101 – Audio Recording/Midi Production

  • Mixing/Mastering in Logic

EQUIPMENT PROVIDED
  • Drums/Amps/Keyboard/Bass/Guitar/Microphones

  • Computers with Focusrite Interface – Logic Pro X and Garageband

ABOUT THE TEACHER

Nicholas Falk is a drummer, songwriter, producer, educator and freelance musician living in Galax, VA. In the recent years he has performed with Hiss Golden Messenger, Dori Freeman, Molly Tuttle, The Wood Brothers, Charlie Hunter, Ric Robertson.

Share The Music Scholarships

Our Share the Music Scholarships are easy to access. Any person who cannot afford our learning opportunities but wishes to take part can fill out a simple form requesting the funds for the program of their choice, no questions asked! Choose whether you are interested in a Handmade at Home workshop, private lessons, or the Floyd Old Time Music Get Together. Simply fill out the form and someone from our team will be in touch.
