The Handmade Music School presents an Old Time Fiddle Fundamentals Workshop with Andrew Small on Saturday, February 29, from 1:30-3:00pm. Cost is $30.

This workshop will be beneficial to beginning and intermediate fiddlers as well as anyone who wishes to gain a foundational understanding of the functional, technical, and stylistic considerations inherent to old time fiddling. We will cover common keys, tunings, and repertoire as well as break down common rhythmic patterns found in dance-style fiddle bowing. Participants can expect to gain a basic understanding of rhythmic old time bowing and learn a tune or two from the common regional repertoire.
