The Handmade Music School presents a flatfoot and two-step dance workshop on Saturday, January 18, 2019 from 5:30-6:30pm with local dancer and musician Maggie Oakes-Chitwood. Maggie will break down the basics of flatfooting and also demonstrate simple two-stepping patterns in preparation for the 7:30pm dance with Gap Civil! All ages welcome. Cost: $15.

Born and raised at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Maggie Oakes-Chitwood grew up around old-time music and has been dancing for several years. She got her start just down the mountain in Franklin County, Virginia where old-time music has deep roots. She learned to dance by watching close friends and seasoned steppers and developed her energetic and light footed style over time.
