Harmonic Heritage: Ross Peacemaker CD Release Party at The Floyd Country Store

Handmade Music School and The Floyd Country Store are excited to present a Harmonic Heritage CD release party celebrating the music of Ross Peacemaker on Wednesday, November 15, at 6:00 PM. Admission is free with a suggested donation of $10. Proceeds go to Handmade Music School. CDs will be available for purchase.

Announcing the Fifth Annual Floyd Old Time Music Get Together

The Handmade Music School, along with The Floyd Country Store, is excited to announce the fifth annual Floyd County Old Time Music Get Together at the beautiful EcoVillage in Floyd County, Virginia! This amazing four day camp will take place Thursday, March 21 – Sunday, March 24, 2024. The camp offers intermediate and advanced classes in fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, dance, and singing. Afternoon sessions will feature presentations and workshops with visiting masters, and evenings will offer square-dancing, concerts, and lots of tune-playing opportunities.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced musician looking to take your playing to another level, private lessons provide the opportunity to get the personal attention that can be beneficial to your growth as a musician. Lessons are scheduled weekly, for 30 or 60 minutes. Our experienced and professional faculty will work with you to develop an individualized program that helps you achieve your musical goals.

The town of Floyd and surrounding Blue Ridge region has developed a reputation worldwide for its living traditions of music and dance, which have long been an important source of human connection throughout Appalachia. Constructed and presented with compelling content and storytelling, the Music of Our Mountains platform will serve as both a comprehensive educational resource and an engaging promotional platform by celebrating local music culture and crediting the contributions of those who helped to shape our local traditions.

Abigail Washburn and Béla Fleck donation to Handmade Music School

On August 27th, 2019, Abigail Washburn and Béla Fleck performed to a sold out crowd at the Floyd Country Store. As part of their mission to support local non-profit organizations in towns along their touring routes, Abigail and Béla generously donated the proceeds from merchandise sales at their Floyd concert to the Handmade Music School.
